Buffy the Vampire Slayer – Ultimate Soundtrack (7/10)

buffy the vampire slayer ultimate soundrack cover Buffy the Vampire Slayer – Ultimate Soundtrack (7/10)Buffy: “I’m just worried this whole session is going to turn into a training montage from an Eighties movie.”
Giles: “Well, if we hear any inspirational power chords, we’ll just lie down until they go away.”

Buffy the Vampire Slayer was one of the most successful shows in TV history (and one of my favourites). Soundtracks have been released before but The Ultimate takes it further, embodying nearly every element of this kickarse show. Not only was the show about killing the bad guys with flair and wise cracks, it was also about growing up, teen angst, first loves, friendship, death and finding out who you are.

The funky DANDY WARHOLS and BLINK 182 reminding us of the lighter side whilst K’S CHOICE and SARAH McLAUGHLAN deliver poignant depth with beauty. One of the show’s highlights was introducing independent artists (many performing at The Bronze). Almost all of them shine and FOUR STAR MARY and VELVET CHAIN are my current best picks. The only unmemorable tracks were the MURDER CITY DEVILS’ ‘Boom Swagger Boom’ and LOS STRAITJACKETS’ ‘Kawanga’.

This is a great soundtrack and maybe you’ll be like me reaching for my worn out taped copies so that I can once again relive the fantasy, comedy and drama that made this revolutionary show unforgettable.

The Murder City Devils are pointless and unmemorable? You're joking right?

I’m a FAN!!! Buffy was awesome! for any of you who have watch all the seasons, its was the first of its kind. Thanks to a source of a source i was able to watch all 6 seasons :)
As for the soundtrack, love it, it always takes me back to those days of “just one more episode before bed”
If you haven’t watch the show series yet its a must in my books.

    • Buffy ruled! What started as fun got damn serious as the writers realized that the more Buffy was depressed, the bigger the following. Meant that a ton of great music found it’s way onto the soundtracks too.

      PS: 7 seasons:)
