Approximately 8000 Capetonians attended RAMfest V over the past weekend. Rock and Metal mayhem was the order of the weekend at Nekkies in Worcester. The kick off to the three national RAMfest concerts was a huge success. The production standard was astounding and the performing bands gave it their all to make this weekend one to remember. Get ready Durban and Joburg, the RAM has landed!

Gary Moore Dies in Spain

gary.moore1  Gary Moore Dies in SpainGARY MOORE, one of the world’s most famous guitarists, died on Sunday, February 6 while on holiday in Spain. Kempinski Hotel (in Estepona) staff were alerted by a woman believed to be his girlfriend. Considered to be a healthy man, his death has been a shock to friends. Cause of death is still unknown.

GARY MOORE was born in 1952. He was only 16 when he entered the rock ‘n roll industry as a member of Skid Row. It wasn’t long before he was invited to perform with THIN LIZZY, an on/off relationship that included the hit ‘Still in Love With You’.  1979′s ‘Parisienne Walkways’ was a slice of class that is considered to be one of the genre’s greatest songs. As a soloist, in the Eighties, GARY MOORE had solid success with rock songs such as ‘Over the Hills and Far Away’, ‘After the War’, ‘Out in the Fields’ and an outstanding cover of ‘Friday on My Mind’ (originally by The Easybeats). In the Nineties he switched to blues, achieving considerable success with Still Got the Blues, not only pleasing fans but reaching a new market too. (more…)

The White Stripes Are Dead!

white.stripes The White Stripes Are Dead!THE WHITE STRIPES have broken up! 6 inspiring albums later and rock ‘n roll’s favourite duo have called it quits. Sad news for us fans but we knew it was coming. Not because making music with your ex spouse must be damn difficult but more so that Jack has made 4 other albums, 2 with The Raconteurs and 2 with The Dead Weather (Horehound well worth checking out).

The White Stripes would like to announce that today, February 2nd, 2011, their band has officially ended and will make no further new recordings or perform live.

The reason is not due to artistic differences or lack of wanting to continue, nor any health issues as both Meg and Jack are feeling fine and in good health. (more…)
